By on March 16, 2017

The last blog post was about the super-duper-highly anticipated Louis Vuitton Eye-Trunk cases. Many fashionistas love the new cases but since the prices start at $1100 USD and goes into the $5000 USD mark, not many of us can afford them.

If you do want some luxury on your phone, check out these cases that seem cheap in comparison ! ūüôā

The Eye-Trunk iPhone Case by Louis Vuitton

By on March 15, 2017

Soooo, Louis Vuitton has finally released its highly anticipated Eye-Trunk iPhone phone case. Since we’re talking about Louis Vuitton here, it’s obvious that the prices are not going to be low… although to be honest, I didn’t expect it to be this high!

There are four options for the case:  Canvas Monogram, Reverse Monogram, Eclipse Monogram and of course, the cherry on top Crocodile! They are available for both the iPhone 7 and 7+ with a small price increase for the latter.

Speaking of prices, they start from $1,180 USD for the canvas ones and¬†$5,500 USD for the exotic leather. Now, I don’t have the kind of disposable income to allow for $5000 phone case and hell, not even for the $1000 one. I love buying luxury goods that I can use for a long time, and frankly a phone case isn’t that.

Here are my pro’s and con’s of this case (keep in mind I haven’t bought it):

From NOT to HOT. How did Gucci become so popular (again) ?

By on March 12, 2017

I wasn’t really into fashion or handbags or anything luxury when Gucci was a big brand. So when I started obsessing over purses, about 6 years ago, Gucci was the last place I would look. I would pass by their boutique and my heart wouldn’t flutter and I don’t remember ever going inside. Quite frankly, I thought the brand was old, tacky and on its last breath.

So what in the world happened? I know that wasn’t just my opinion, as I’ve VERY rarely seen any blogger or respectable fashionista wear any of their pieces. But all of the sudden, everybody and their mother loves Gucci. I love Gucci, 99% of the fashion bloggers love Gucci, heck even Beyonce loves Gucci (proof: her many outfits by the Italian house and the Formation video where she sports a Gucci body).

Some of my favourite Gucci items at the moment:

So how did they become a fashion sensation:

1. The new creative director Alessandro Michele.

The fashion house has exploded under his wing, and many of us now associate Gucci with his bold, quirky and colourful style. There is no doubt in my mind that he (and his team) is the main reason why Gucci is so successful at the moment. Here’s a Vogue article about him if you want to learn more.

I am in a relationship, but we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day so much. Maybe it’s not so much an European thing? That doesn’t stop me from wanting some cute, nice additions to my wardrobe/make-up collection.

How to buy pre-owned designer bags for less

By on December 20, 2016

It is no secret that designer bags are expensive, in fact many would argue that’s part of the reason they are so lusted after. However, you don’t have to break the bank to afford that Chanel bag. I love looking online for a good deal especially for brands like Louis Vuitton or Chanel bags that notoriously never go on sale.

One of the main concerns for buying second hand luxury bags or accessory¬†is the authenticity of the item. We’ve all heard horror stories of fake bags being sold on eBay for thousands, and that is a scary though! I will give you some tips on how to score an authentic bag for less and then I’ll share the main shops or eBay sellers to watch!

TIPS for buying authentic designer bags online:

  1. make your research on the bag. If for instance you want to buy a Chanel Classic Flap, research what are the signs of authenticity. You can still be fooled by superfakes, but at least you’ll have an idea on what to look for.
  2. research the website or seller that has your dream bag. A simple Google search will do, if there’s any major red flags they will usually come up. Example of searches could be : “examplesite fakes “
  3. make sure you know the retail price. I have seen it many times when sellers list a handbag for the same amount as in the store or even higher. If you’re willing to pay more for an “unicorn” bag or one that has been discontinued that’s completely fine. However, I was¬†really surprised when I saw some Gucci bags that were available on their website selling for more on the pre-loved market.
  4. if the first three steps did not raise any red flags, it’s now time to authenticate the bag. To do that you could for instance use the lovely purseforum and ask in a relevant thread to have your bag authenticated. Other options could be : Etinceler Authentications or Authenticate First for which you will need to pay a small fee.

Some of the websites / eBay sellers that I keep my eye on:

Please notice I haven’t tried them all, and even if I did, I would strongly recommend to make sure the purse you’re buying is authentic by following the previous steps.

Ebay Sellers:

There are obviously more websites and sellers out there that sell authentic designer items, but these are just the ones I follow. Don’t forget to make your research when buying a luxury piece and don’t forget to factor in VAT if you’re buying from abroad, as that can make a huge difference in the price.

Do you have any tips on scoring a good deal? I’d love to know!

Is a Chanel classic flap bag still a good investment?

By on December 7, 2016

A Chanel Classic flap seems to be on every bag lover’s “holy grail bags” list. I am just as mesmerized by this classic beauty, and the Medium (M/L) Classic Flap in GHW and caviar leather has been on my wish list for years.

As beautiful as this bag is, it’s also pricey (understatement?) and it seems to increase in price every year or every couple of months, if you take the UK’s example. As a branding professional I think their strategy to continually increase their prices by as much as they do is genius. As a consumer, though, I am annoyed. I am annoyed that I still lust over this pretty piece of leather with a beautiful CC logo.

So you’re in college now. You (kinda) figured out what you want to do with your life and you’re excited for the day when you finally graduate and you won’t have to pull an all-nighter before a big exam.

All college students have dreams and aspirations from when they graduate. Some might dream of being entrepreneurs and start their own business, other long for the stability of the corporate life. Me? I was contemplating both, but decided working in a corporation is the way to go at the beginning.

However, as many recent graduates will tell you, job hunting is harder than it looks. You are competing with hundreds of other graduates that are just as smart, motivated and eager to start their careers as you are.

So what can you do now, before you’re in the position of searching for a full-time job to help your chances?
