Comparison between Siteground and Bluehost for hosting your WordPress Blog

If you’re thinking about starting a blog, one of the many questions that you might have, is which hosting platform to use.

Web hosting was one of those things I had no idea about when I started my blog. It seemed so complicated to find a provider that is reliable, fairly priced AND user-friendly because I ain’t no tech person.

Fast forward to weeks of research, I managed to narrow my list to two: BlueHost and Siteground. If you’re on the same mission, look no further the answer is in this post.

First of all, let me tell you that Siteground has won the battle for me. It was the highest rated blog hosting provider for WordPress and it has been around for more than 10 years, which also attests to its greatness.

Pros of Siteground

  • easy to set up – as a non-tech person I had no issues with setting it up
  • customer support – live chat is a God sent every time I need any support, they are VERY quick to reply
  • reliable – Siteground has less than 0.1% downtime, so you don’t have to worry about your site being down
  • officially endorsed by WordPress as a top host

Cons of Siteground

  • pricing – even though there’s different price tiers to choose from, Siteground is a little more expensive than its competitors. Although, the quality and support more than makes up for it in my opinion.

It was a tight race for me if I should choose BlueHost or SiteGround and even though I choose the latter, I still think BlueHost is a good option. Bluehost is also an established web hosting company that started B.G. (before Google).

Pros of Bluehost

  • unlimited disk space – BlueHost has a limit of 30GB
  • free domain name for 1 year
  • affordable

Cons of Bluehost

  • customer support can be slow – apparently it can take up to 40 hours for a response in peak times
  • pricing increases after the first year – the domain renewal price is quite higher than average during renewal.

So, here is is – at a glance the differences between Siteground and Bluehost – personally I have researched and considered both of them for my blog. Just take a look at the pros and cons as well as the pricing and choose the best suited for you. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either.
